You've probably seen that cute little white barn beside The Market with the Basically Needed sign above the french doors. That 12x16 frame provides the support of building 20 times it's footprint, creating a one stop shopping experience for our customers in need of baby items like diapers and formula, as well as basic hygiene supplies.
We also use this space for other agencies to utilize when meeting clients they support with other needs outside of food. It's a tiny place with big impact in our community.
This year we partnered with several incredible companies and organizations to create a festive weeklong shopping experience for our customers that we've named 'Mrs. Clauses Cottage'. The little barn is filled with the most amazing gidgets and gadgets thanks to our friends at Toysmith, our primary sponsor. Toys, books, candy, toothbrushes, and gloves. Our customers can select a stocking for each child and fill it up with treasures. If you've ever shopped for stocking stuffers, you know how it adds up fast and becomes the price of another gift! We're so thankful to be able to offer these stockings along with a holiday meal to every family that shops at The Market, which has now peaked 1,000 each week. We wanted to thank all the people that made this possible.
Thank you Toysmith!
This incredible company generously donated thousands of toys that are perfect for stockings. Each one makes you smile, from Grow Your Own Yeti kits to Kinetic Sand scented like a cupcake. I could go on and on and may have played with every toy.
Thank You Pierce County Library System!
We received an entire bookshelf of brand-new books for every single age, from birth to graduation. All the titles are the latest and greatest, with a subject for every kids to immerse themselves into.
Thank You Corliss Resources!
We will fill over 500 stockings this year, each one purchased by the Corliss family. Thank you for being part of this and helping each child feel special.
Thank You Molen!
I know every year at our house, Santa makes sure a new toothbrush makes it into the stockings. Molen brought over a huge bag with a brush for every age.
Thank You Prairie Ridge Community Coalition!
We got a huge stash of candy for our stockings from the Halloween Buy Back event from Molen. Prairie Ridge Community Coalition worked with interns from the Community Based Transition Program at Sumner Bonney Lake School District to sort the candy, peanut vs no peanut varieties. Each stocking will be topped off with treats.
Thank you Murrey's Disposal!
We will have a bike raffle all week for our customers and announce the winners on Friday thanks to the generous donation of 10 bikes and helmets from Murrey's.
